Palo Alto Networks brings frontier AI models into continuous cyber defence

A new service will use models from Anthropic, OpenAI and open-weight developers to continuously test applications, APIs and cloud infrastructure.

Unit 42 Continuous Frontier AI Defense is designed to identify vulnerabilities and potential attack paths as corporate environments change, then recommend code-level fixes or virtual patches. The launch reflects a wider shift from periodic security testing towards continuous, AI-assisted assessment.

Why it matters

The significance lies in the connection between immediate events and the institutions that shape long-term outcomes. Decisions taken now will affect public confidence, investment and the room governments have to respond to the next shock.

Leadership is measured not only by the decisions made today, but by the capacity those decisions create for tomorrow.

What to watch

Watch for measurable commitments, implementation dates and independent evidence. Announcements matter, but durable change depends on resources, accountability and whether institutions can adapt when conditions shift.
